Telogen Effluvium and why you are losing hair...

Are you losing hair and it's making you nervous? Don't be! Hair for most people is a security blanket so I understand how you feel 100% and we are here to explain since we have background in Hair Science/trichology and have put many clients on the right path/regimen to get there hair back.

If anything in the list below resonates with you those are the reasons it's happening.

  • Surgery

  • Major physical trauma

  • Major psychological stress

  • High fever, severe infection or other illness

  • Extreme weight loss

  • Extreme change in diet

  • Abrupt hormonal changes, including those associated with childbirth and menopause

  • Iron deficiency

  • Hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism

  • Some medications

This is called Telogen effluvium- A temporary and reversable form of hair loss caused by the list above. The stress pushes a large number of follicles into what we call a "resting phase" and you will notice hair fall 2-4 months after a stressful event.

The hair fall may appear limited to one area or could global(all over).

Our hairs only survival method is the nutrients our blood carries to the hair follicles. So when we are not at our healthiest state mentally/physically it will start to show with the most obvious ways being your hair and skin.

Stress of any kind fluctuates hormone levels and our bodies may or may not be depleted of vitamins as well.

What we recommend:

- Having your stylist prescribe the right at home shampoo, conditioner, and treatment regimen to help stimulate new growth after we detox your hair from any build up of other products.

-Taking a multivitamin that includes keratin, collagen, and biotin in it since that's what hair, skin, and nails are also made up of.

-Healthy eating.

-Find ways to help destress.

For any questions you may have feel free to reach out to us. We have helped so many clients we can help you too!
